Hello, Amazing Person,
I am Cate, and welcome to the newest part of my writing adventure, right here on Blogger. A few months ago I created a Twitter account, on which I am still active and would love to connect with you there also. (Follow me at @CateMagnusson.) I advocate for positivity, love, laughs, encouragement to expand each of our perspectives, and so much more. As a writer/illustrator/photographer, I'm actively creating several works in progress, one of which is a cookbook, so I will soon also post about food, including photos of my creations, in addition to advocating for true education, more positivity, kindness, and happiness. I am steadfast about that! About what are you steadfast?
I write and illustrate children's picture books, and I also write adult nonfiction, adult fiction, in addition to the cookbooks I mentioned earlier. (I do write lyrics, poetry, and short-stories, too.) Writing has been an important part of me, basically since I could hold a pen. If you are also a writer, how long have you been writing as your calling? If you are not a writer, what do you do as your calling?
Not only am I writing and tweeting and now blogging, I am also creating YouTube videos for my channel, CuriousCate... oh, and I am a dedicated homeschooling mom, who loves being a mom and wife. Everything I do is with infinite love, and I am eternally thankful. I try to spread love and positivity as far and wide as I can, which now includes my social media endeavor. My children are actually the reason I birthed most of my manuscripts. I created my first manuscripts for my children, to help guide them into a lifetime of positivity, love, and learning in a fun and creative way with exciting stories and funny pictures. They, and my phenomenal husband, are my greatest inspirations. My husband, Rick, is a gifted illustrator. He also is an expert on literal train derailments in North America. We can cover that more in depth later as there are plenty of stories there.
As a writer and illustrator, I am seeking an agent and actively querying. Finding a "unicorn agent" is quite the journey. Who can relate? I have sent maybe thirty queries with a few "I don't know if we'd make a good fit,"-type responses. I thank each of those agents and wish them continued success. I get it, and I am searching for that one special agent who gets my vision, so to speak. I am building my vision into a brand, so part of the foundation includes a passionate agent.
I am thankful you stopped by and invite you to join in on this amazing and enlightening adventure often. I would love to hear from you about your thoughts, experiences, and questions- here, on Twitter, on YouTube, and via email if that's more your thing. If I missed a mistake, I welcome the opportunity to correct it, so let me know when you see one. Mistakes are opportunities to learn even more. I also welcome respectful comments on sensitivity and any perceived voids in my perspective (aka ignorance or oversight), as I aim to be as inclusive as possible. Respectfully expanding each of our perspectives is important.
I wish for you days filled with joy, laughter, gratitude, and peace.
Respectfully,
Cate
